Design can interface with new technological systems as a strategic component within decision-making processes, developing IoT devices, robotic devices, and ICT solutions. 

Digital Twins are the new frontier of smart agriculture, bringing new levels of productivity and sustainability. A digital twin is the virtual counterpart of a real-world object, reflecting its behavior in a virtual space. Using Digital Twins as the primary means for farm management allows for the separation of physical processes from planning and control, simulating the effects of interventions based on real data. 

Decarbonization refers to the reduction of the carbon intensity of global energy consumption. It is the process of reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions generated by humans in order to mitigate the severe and hazardous effects of global warming on life. 

Soil carbon sequestration occurs when plants capture and store, or “sequester,” atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) in the soil, increasing the amount of carbon stocks in the soil. Carbon dioxide is the primary greenhouse gas (GHG) emitted by human activities, which is why soil carbon sequestration could contribute to climate mitigation goals.
